Poshan Bagicha Campaign
About the Campaign
The Poshan Bagicha Campaign is a community-based nutrition awareness initiative focused on improving dietary diversity and nutritional outcomes through the promotion of kitchen gardens (Poshan Bagicha / Poshan Vatika) at household and community levels.
Sanraksh Foundation conducted awareness activities highlighting the importance of micronutrients and encouraging families—Adolescent Girls, pregnant and lactating women—to adopt healthy, balanced, and sustainable dietary practices. The campaign emphasized how locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs can play a vital role in preventing malnutrition and improving overall health.
Objectives of the Program
- Micronutrients are essential for physical growth, mental development, and overall well-being.
- Deficiencies of iron, iodine, vitamin A, and zinc can lead to serious health problems.
- Kitchen gardens ensure a sustainable supply of fresh and nutritious foods.
- Pregnant and lactating women require additional nutrition for maternal and child health.
- Every household should aim to become a Poshan Samridh Parivar
Way Forward
The Poshan Bagicha Campaign demonstrates that community-driven, sustainable nutrition solutions can create long-term impact.
